dear men, vie or die

it seems to be an international truth that woman want to be fought for.    it’s true, we are easily sucked into all of these fictitious scenarios and then made drunk on the fantasy that men (or even just one man) would fight for his girl.  the girl that makes his heart beat red and gives him reason to be alive.  the girl that he would face any giant for and not back down for absolutely anything……ANYTHING.

proof:

The Notebook – two good dudes vying for one pretty lady who doesn’t know exactly what she wants.  But when her first love reminds her that he never stopped loving her; never will stop loving her she remembers real quick.

Twilight – (I know, so silly) but again two guys….err hero-monsters(?) that both want Bella.  They both love her, would do anything for her.  You get it……the female gender at large (pre-teens to 45 year old Moms) are completely cuckoo for this sort of drama-romance.  (yes i did read the books, no i didn’t love the movies).

The Bachelorette – (again I know….silly).  but here is one of the most viewed shows in our country with dozens of goofy guys vying for one girl’s affection.  and almost every pair of boobs in America tunes into this show on Monday nights.  why?  because there is something about being fought for.

The Hunger Games – once again we have the quintessential love triangle: Katniss, Peeta and Gale.  Who will she choose, the lover or the fighter?  (yes, i did read the books, and no i wasn’t a fan of the movie.)

Brave – Haven’t seen this yet, but this little trailer was so cute.  She doesn’t seen amused by having several suitors, but none-the-less it’s another movie where one woman is sought by many men.

Message: there is something stitched into a woman’s heart that desires so deeply to be the leading lady who is pursued by a man, sought out and then shown and proven by that man over and over that there is no obstacle (earthly, universally, physically, scientifically, emotionally or intercosmically) that exists in any realm of the universe that is too colossal to quell and thus win her precious heart; her beating soul.

i know Hollywood is Hollywood and the above books, movies & TV shows are extremely fictitious…..I KNOW!  but here’s where i would hope to challenge any men-folk who might have tuned in for a brief second.  (i did use the word boobs earlier….so hopefully some of you are still around).  ;D

ladies want to be sought.  they want to be vied for.  more than just showing up.  more than just the typical gifts.  deep calls to deep.  you want real love?  show real emotion.  have real conversations.  shed blood.  shed tears.  take chances.  vie or die (alone).  don’t be subliminal.  don’t play games.  don’t assume.  ask.  find the right balance between authoritative and affectionate.

hard things are not terminal inconveniences they are opportunities to show honor.

this song is from one of my favorite movies (10 Things I Hate About You).  it’s Letters to Cleo covering “I Want You to Want Me” by Cheap Trick.
